“That’s New York City”
Waking up in the morning and not knowing what will happen during the day, who you will meet or who you’ll find yourself at dinner.
Almost 3 and a half years that I live in the Big Apple and will not never end to amaze me.
A few nights ago I met at a dinner the famous Carmen D’Alessio, celebrities of the Studio 54 symbol of the New York’s Nightlife.
The main feature of the club located on 54th street between seventh and eighth Avenue, were the provocations of the costumes and the extravagance of the evenings proposals. The intent of the artistic directors of the local (Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager) was in fact to ensure every night, “the biggest party in the world ‘, and to shock the excesses of the city of New York.
Many were the famous people of that time guests of Studio 54. Among them names such as Elizabeth Taylor, Liza Minnelli, Andy Warhol, John Travolta, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Elio Fiorucci, Tom Ford. Even an unknown Madonna, at the time still emerging singer. Equally numerous were the artists who performed there, including: Grace Jones, Chic, Diana Ross and Amii Stewart. Today the local is a working theater, but New York still remember and dream of those golden days of madness and extravagance.
It was an incredible pleasure to know Carmen with her smile and wonderful energy, invite her to my studio in Chelsea to try my creations and shoes.
Her picture inside a giant cake at Studio 54 has been around the world and hear about those times and Andy Warhol were so amazing.
Carmen love colors and a green pair of Kilame shoes was a perfect match with her outfit.
New York, New York … we love you!
